Ananda Design was born out of the inspiration of Erika Falconeri, an international fashion model who worked for many years with designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier and Armani just to name a few.
Erika, of Japanese and Italian descent, can be called a citizen of the world. She traversed the globe for her modeling career and was inspired and influenced by designers from around the world, which shaped her personal design vision.
She named her label “Ananda ’ after the Sanskrit word for ‘bliss consciousness’ as it refers to the luxuriousness softness of the fabrics she loves. The Ananda collection’s design inspiration is represented by intricate weaving techniques, luxurious fabrics, hand embroidery, block printing and hand painted prints. All these traditional methods are quickly disappearing from the market. She strives to modernize as well as highlight these techniques in her beautiful designs.
